Make a Perfect Cup of Tea
  • Start with cold water. Use one cup of water for each teaspoonful of tea. You may want a little more or less depending on your taste. Bring to a rolling boil.
  • Fill teapot or tea cups with hot water to heat them up. Pour water out and measure tea (add an extra teaspoonful as a good measure if you are using a teapot or you like strong tea). For most tastes, herbals take of the leaves to the pot or cup than real tea. Finer leaf real tea also take less than the more coarse teas.
  • Pour the boiling water over the tea. The exceptions are the green and white teas which need the water to cool slightly (170-180 degrees F). Herbal infusions need to be covered to keep their best qualities. Real teas have a richer flavor, as well, if covered. Tea pots work.
  • Let your cup or pot steep for 2-10 minutes depending on the tea and your taste. Greens and whites take 2-3 minutes; most other teas take 3-6; herbals take 5-10.
  • Pour using a strainer. Add milk and sweetener, if desired.

Sip, Savor and Enjoy!
